After the arrival of Torre’s baby brother, a rigorous decision turns his life upside down. His parents decide that his mother needs rest and that Torre should go and live with his uncle Fons whom he barely knows. Luckily, Torre quickly adapts to his new life in the mountains where he lives in a wondrous mountain cabin together with Wetnose, a cheeky little goat. Unfortunately, disaster strikes when Torre and Wetnose get lost in a mysterious forest after they are swept away by a raging mountain stream. A friendly but sassy goblin offers help but does expect something in return from Torre. This is the beginning of a dazzling adventure whereby Torre must defeat mountain gor Walgor the Horrendous and find his way back home. Torre’s Rather Remarkable Return
Annekarijn Overduin & Sophie Pluim (ill.)

A year after his great adventure, Torre returns to his uncle’s wondrous mountain cabin for another summer. After a difficult and lonely year, he is thrilled to be reunited with Uncle Fons. Joined by Torre’s cheeky goat friend Wetnose, they set out on their long-awaited expedition. But their plans fall through when Fons breaks his ankle during a severe storm. It is up to Torre and Wetnose to find help. When a mudslide blocks the only path to the village, Torre seeks out to find his old friends, the earth gnomes. As he navigates the wilderness, danger lurks behind every tree and turn. Just as things are about to go hor- ribly wrong, he meets a mysterious girl who calls the forest her home. With her help, he attempts to bring Uncle Fons to safety. But can she be trusted? And was it really wise of Torre to ask the gnomes for help?

The second adventure of Annekarijn Overduin’s now classic adventure series is even more thrilling than the first. Overduin keeps readers on the edge of their seats from the first page to the last, while Sophie Pluim’s atmospheric illustrations bring the magical forest and its inhabitants to life. A breathtaking adventure full of feeling, action and humour for young and old alike. And unsurprisingly, the series is a big hit with teachers.
